Screen printing
Screen printing is a printing process based on the principle of the stencil. A fine-mesh polyester fabric layer is stretched tightly onto a frame. In the areas where no ink is to be applied, the mesh is coated with a light-sensitive layer and then exposed to light. This hardens the layer in the exposed areas and forms an impermeable stencil. The untreated areas of the fabric become permeable to the color.
To apply a motif in the desired colors, the screen printing stencil is placed on the material to be printed. The ink is drawn over the fabric with a squeegee, with the stencil regulating the amount and distribution of ink. The ink is pressed through the mesh and applied to the material.
Screen printing is mainly used for printing textiles. The advantage of screen printing is that it enables high color coverage and color intensity.
